November Bloom
It grows from a crack in the concrete.
It has weathered every storm.
It continues to grow but how can you know
How it keeps itself safe and warm.
It grows from a crack in the concrete
and its blossom is bright pink
How does it grow when October did go
and it still has a drop to drink
It’s roots run deep and it’s quite a feat
but it set itself up strong
Though it’s out of place and on the face
you would think it does not belong.
Its parent plant is long since gone,
beat by the summer’s heat and a paucity of rain
But poor placement could not keep it from sending it’s seed along
from finding a place to further maintain
It grows where it couldnt
doing what it shoudn’t
It defies all those who said it
wouldnt.
But in the city a blossom grows
As November’s wind taunts and blows
Someday the plant will wither and pass
But not today, and not soon, alas.

Eldridge OddBird & BubbaZoo
Eldridge OddBird and BubbaZoo,
To each other always true.
took a trip to the Philly zoo.
It’s how they kept from being blue
Eldridge OddBird and BubbaZoo
Didn’t tell anyone where they flew
They just figured everyone knew
They had no idea what that would do
But once the two were properly found
They surrendered themselves with hardly a sound
Boy, mom and dad were tightly wound
and their reaction to it all was quite profound.
Baby Daddy and Momma Bird
couldn’t believe what they had heard
When Eldridge said, “tis you who erred.
Bubbazoo and I know what occurred.”
They were just out there finding fun
And Eldridge and his BubbaZoo found a ton
And they returned when they were done
before the setting of the sun
So mommy and daddy ought to know
Whichever way the wind will blow
Bubba and Eldridge are sure to go
Always with each other in tow.
Always looking for something new
Working to keep from being blue.
cooking up some fun time brew
That Eldridge OddBird and BubbaZoo
To each other always true

My Name is America
My name is America
and I was once great
But now I am full of envy
which manifests as hate
I am America and I could do all things
I’ve weathered the most incredible trials
and all the joy and pain it brings.
There was a time when no mountain was too high
but now I feel the mountain’s mine,
and all I do is whine and cry
Enough, enough, never enough
there’s never enough for me
I am all that I have ever wanted
All that I can ever be
There is no other place I’ve seen
that fills my belly and enlarges my spleen
that gives me all I’ll ever need
without having to ever bleed
I am America and I am the best
I’m all about me
and to hell with thee
until I am laid to rest
I am America and I was once great
Now I let things run themselves
and dance my way to fate

I Stand There and Tell the Truth
I stand there and tell the truth
then I present the evidence, plain as day
I then explain how it works
Just how B connects to A
It all seems evident to me
When you see how A is bound to B
That you’ll connect the dots, 1, 2, 3.
And won’t believe that all don’t see.
When you realize
that everyone is different
And it satisfies
the singularity of you
Wont you realize
the way you see the truth
Is the essence of what makes you
I stand there and listen to the lie
and it’s all about boast and glory
It’s a shame that someone has to die.
to make the point of the story

Clean the Sky
Too many people,
who want too much
willing to do anything
to maintain the crutch
Not enough water
potable and clean
Our primary resource
on which we are getting lean
we can solve the problem
in a minute and a half
all we need is cooperation
from world leaders and staff
Who will know when the water stops its flow
Who will care, and who will know
just what it is we are going to do
Don’t ask Jesus, ‘cause he’s puzzled too.
We will solve the problems
when the preachers tell the truth
we will have no worries
when our leaders don’t lie
We will all live better
when we learn to clean the sky
